This was by far the most fun, cool and intense project I ever worked on. I was tasked with coming up with the new BP cap for MLB. As I did my research, I began to notice that batting practice had become a much more informal activity. In the past, the players either wore their game uniforms or a variety of BP jerseys. I now began to see t-shirts and shorts and colorful arm sleeves and headbands, it seemed like the players were using BP as an opportunity for self-expression. So, I thought to myself, could we look at the cap as an opportunity make a statement, rather than it being a part of the uniform. Can we design a cap that has never been worn on the field of play, something that the player is going to be proud to wear and will grab the fan's attention at the same time.

I pitched the idea internally, then to MLB and finally got on a video call with each team, individually, to show my vision for their squad. It was a lot of work, but the end result and story was like nothing we had ever done in the history of New Era.

So, my idea was to design a cap that intersected team heritage with lifestyle culture, exciting fans with unique logo's and colorizations, inspired by and in celebration of iconic team "hitters" or  "hits".
